Wedding Planner FAQs
Where are you based?
One Oake is based in Essex, but I plan weddings and events across the UK, specialising in Essex, London, Cotswolds, Suffolk and Surrey.
We are not based in the UK, can you still help us ?
Yes. I regularly work with international couples planning UK weddings, so I’m very used to working across different time zones and making the planning process feel straightforward and enjoyable wherever you’re based.
For full planning clients, you’ll also have access to your own planning portal, so you can keep up to date with everything in one place, 24/7.
You can also read this guide to planning a UK wedding from abroad.
How many weddings do you plan at one time?
I deliberately keep my number of weddings limited each year so that I can give every couple the time, attention and support they deserve.
If you’re considering full-service wedding planning, I’d recommend getting in touch early to check my availability.
How far in advance should we book a wedding planner?
For full planning, I'd generally suggest booking 12–18 months before your wedding, so there's plenty of time to secure the best venues and suppliers and really enjoy the process.
That said, if your date is closer than that, please don't assume it's too late get in touch anyway. Depending on my availability and what you need, I may still be able to help, whether that's full planning, bespoke support, or stepping in for on-the-day coordination.
Do you only plan weddings?
No. Alongside weddings, I also plan private parties, anniversaries and other special celebrations. If you’re planning something a little different, get in touch and we can chat through what you have in mind.
What are your payment terms?
For Full or Bespoke Planning:
· 40% deposit to secure the date
· 40% due three months before your wedding
· Final 20% due one month before
For On-the-Day Coordination:
· 50% deposit to book
· 50% one month prior to your wedding
Your full payment schedule will be clearly outlined in your custom proposal.
Will I still have control over my wedding if I hire a planner?
Absolutely. My role is to bring your ideas to life and make the planning process easier, not to take over.
I’ll recommend suppliers, ideas and solutions that I think will work for you, your wedding and your budget, but the final decisions are always yours.
Do you plan marquee weddings?
Yes. I have planned a number of marquee weddings across Essex, Suffolk and Cotswolds, and I particularly enjoy the flexibility they offer.
From finding the right structure and managing the practical logistics to coordinating all of the suppliers involved, there’s a lot that goes into making a marquee wedding work seamlessly.
You can see some of my previous marquee weddings here.
Do we have to use your preferred suppliers?
No. While I have built strong relationships with a network of trusted wedding suppliers, there’s no obligation to use them.
I’ll recommend suppliers based on your priorities, style and budget, but the choice is always yours. If there’s a supplier you already love, I’m very happy to work with them too.
We've already started planning ourselves, is it too late to bring in a planner?
Not at all. Lots of couples start out planning solo and reach out to me partway through, once things start to feel overwhelming or they'd just like an expert eye across what they've already arranged.
I'll happily pick up wherever you are in the process, review what's in place, fill in any gaps, and take things off your plate from there. You don't need to be starting from scratch to work with me.
Are you insured?
Yes. One Oake holds Public Liability Insurance, and the relevant insurance details can be provided if required.
Are you available for evening or weekend calls?
Yes. I offer flexible consultation times, including evenings and weekends, via my online diary. If you need a custom slot, I’m happy to accommodate.
Are there any additional fees?
Your proposal will clearly set out everything included within your fee.
For Full Planning, the quoted fee includes everything agreed as part of your service, including travel and accommodation and support with any pre- or post-wedding events where applicable.
For other services, travel and accommodation for myself or my team may be charged separately, depending on the location of your venue and the requirements of your wedding. Any additional costs will always be discussed with you in advance.
Can we agree a fixed fee instead of percentage?
Yes, fixed fees are absolutely possible and can be discussed during your consultation. Your pricing will be confirmed in your custom proposal.
Can your planning services be tailored?
Yes. No two weddings are the same, so I’m happy to tailor the planning support around what you actually need.
Whether you’re looking for full wedding planning or something more bespoke, we’ll talk through your plans, priorities and where you’d like support before putting together a proposal.
Will you be there on the wedding day?
Yes. All services include me being on-site for your wedding day, managing everything behind the scenes so you can relax and enjoy every moment. In the rare circumstance I am unable to attend, another trusted member of the team will be on site to look after you, and where possible you will be introduced ahead of time so you know who to expect.
